Cable type detectors are also known as Lineer Heat Detectors. Special cables are used to detect fire and transmit fire information to the central fire alarm detection system. LH’s are preferred where point type detectors can not be used. LHD’s have different types suitable for indoor or outdoor. LHD’s have three types according to the technology used.
Digital LHD cables work like fixed heat detectors. They have different models according to the alarm temperature and ambient temperature. Any additional controller is not required; LHD cables can directly be connected to the Fire Alarm System via input modules. Distance locator devices can be used optionally. These devices directly shows alarm point which can be useful at long distances. Digital LHD cables have different types according to the usage area. If it will be used at corrosive environment or outdoor; stainless steel option should be preferred. Basically digital LHD cable melts at alarm point and creates alarm; then sends this information to the main fire alarm detection system. Digital LHD cables must be replaced after fire situation. Digital LHD cables are most cost effective types of LHD’s.
Analog LHD cables work like fixed and/or rate of rise heat detectors. They must be used with a controller. Alarm temperature can be set on controller. Analog LHD cables have special conductor inside which detects alarm at set point. Controller receives temperature information from cable and evaluates if it is a fire alarm or not. Controller transmit fire alarm information to the main fire alarm system via input modules. Analog LHD cables are reusable after fire if not harmed.
Fiber Optical LHD cables work like fixed and/or rate of rise heat detectors. They must be used with a controller. Alarm temperature can be set on controller. Controller receives temperature information from cable and evaluates if it is a fire alarm or not. Controller transmit fire alarm information to the main fire alarm system via input modules. Fiber Optical LHD cables are reusable after fire if not harmed. Fiber Optical LHD cables are much more sensitive and faster than other LHD technologies. Fiber Optical LHD cables can be used with long distances like 8-10km.
